Work-Life Balance, Stress and the Process of Individuation—Mary McGuiness

October 8, 2022 @ 11:45 am 12:45 pm Australia/Sydney

The individuation process is a term used by Carl Gustav Jung to describe the process of becoming inwardly whole, discovering one’s true self, beyond the mask of the persona and ego-centered life. Individuation generally has a profound healing effect on the person. It is a process that allows us to be our most creative and to fulfil the soul’s deepest desire.

Our busy lives sometimes hinder our growth towards wholeness as the stress reduces our cognitive functioning and emotional intelligence. Work-Life Balance is essential in reducing stress and allowing the process of growth and individuation to occur. We will explore how research has suggested some ‘best practices’ that can help us to prevent stress and improve resilience so that we can function at our best. We will look at these practices and some suggestions Jung gave us on how to facilitate our own growth and individuation.

Midlife Development: A Crisis? A Crash? Or a Cruise? – Angelina Bennet

October 7, 2022 @ 7:45 pm 8:45 pm Australia/Sydney

Midlife is a time when many of us take stock of our life and think about what we want for our future. In this session we will review theories of midlife from the type perspective, consider the possible accelerating impact of the pandemic, and consider how to craft the life we want for ourselves.

After reviewing some of the theories of Type Development, particularly around midlife, we will take a look at the facts that influence our midlife development. With the opportunity to have some small group discussions, participants will be able to share experiences and thoughts on the mid-life stage. In the final part, I will present some ideas about how to coach or develop clients who are already well developed and who may be questioning their career paths and their purpose in life.

Jung’s Type and Development over his Lifetime – Mary McGuiness

personal development

November 6, 2020 @ 2:45 pm 3:45 pm Australia/Sydney

Was Carl Jung’s Type INTJ or INTP? This has been debated in the Type community for some time. We will examine evidence from Jung’s life, his writings, his work and from people who knew him personally, that points to his personality Type. We will also explore the changes in Jung as he developed through midlife and beyond. In this session we will look at the question of how can you identify a person’s Type, particularly an historical figure or a celebrity. We will also look how an understanding of one’s Type can influence the individuation process.
