The symptoms cause clinically significant impairments in social\, occupational and other areas of functioning (DSM-5\, APA\, 2013 pp. 50-51). \n\n\n\n\n• There are approximately 30\,000 young adults with ASD in Australia.\n\n\n\n• Only 28% of this group complete tertiary courses post school.\n\n\n\n• 50% of this group are unemployed.\n\n\n\n• Less than half of this cohort has friends.\n\n\n\n• 50 -70% of this group suffer from anxiety and depression.\n\n\n\n• This group of Australians spend on average 9 hours a day engaged in solitary technology-based activities.\n\n\n\n\nCurrently\, there are no social skills coaching programs for young adults with ASD in Australia. Helen has a background in the Creative Arts\, Nursing and Michael is a performer\, musician\, writer\, and esteemed academic who has led numerous research projects working with young people with autism. \n\n\n\nIn 2017\, in the absence of any suitable social skill programs for their autistic son\, Helen and Michael designed and developed the Chill program for young adults on the autism spectrum. To them\, this situation was an ‘emergency’\, or in medical terms a ‘Code Blue’. Since then\, they have become the industry leaders in this arena. \n\n\n\nLinks between type and autism will be explored in this fascinating workshop. \n\n\n\nTYPE DATA: \n\n\n\nMeredith will present the results of her small sample of People with Autism and Aspergers + AHDH who have completed the MBTI inventory. She will also discuss her observations on a number of children/adolescents on the ASD scale. \n\n\n\n” 10 people have completed the MBTI and confirmed in discussion. I will be asking our participants to consider their hunches before giving the results. The observation of a number of children has also led to some likely TYPE preferences; as these are relatives there has been extensive observation to draw upon.  Russell is also familiar with TYPE and will share his observations of the young people he has been working with\,” Meredith Fuller OAM Psychologist \n\n\n\nENTRY IS BRING A PLATE OR BOTTLE to SHARE \n\n\n\nBOOK NOW with Meredith meredith@ausapt.org.au or AusAPT info@ausapt.org.au \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFeature photo by Polina Kovaleva: https://www.pexels.com/photo/scrabble-tiles-on-paper-cutouts-on-white-surface-8709419/
