SUMMARY:Talking through the language of type: with Harumi Gondo and the Japanese TypeLAB community
DESCRIPTION:Harumi Gondo\, MBTI Master Practitioner and Founder of 16 Type & TypeLAB\, joins us from Tokyo along with members of the Japanese TypeLAB community for an interactive conversation about type in Japan and type and cultural differences. Online\, free and open to all. \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Harumi Gondo and the Japanese TypeLAB community\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo is in her third (and possibly final?) career. After finding herself alone and without a community in Japan\, she went to the US to get certified in MBTI. She began inviting moms in her daughter’s kindergarten to learn about Type. It has since been 8 years and she is in the midst of creating a growth-oriented community of mothers\, who all live within 20-30 minute biking distance of each other\, who are learning and teaching Type. Last year alone TypeLAB ran around 335 events for mothers. \n\n\n\nMembers of TypeLAB at events in Tokyo\n\n\n\nHarumi is a MBTI Master Practitioner and is also certified with Majors PTI and TypeCoach as well as the MMTIC (Murphy-Mesgeier Type Indicator for Children). She studied the cognitive functions and their archetypal influences with Bob McAlpine (also John Beebe’s workshop in Houston). Harumi created her own type certification program and has written a Japanese textbook on Type (with her team) and a Japanese workbook on the cognitive functions. She conducts type trainings at companies and organizations on teamwork and communication in Japanese and English. \n\n\n\nAs an ENFJ she has worked (so hard!!!) to create a good marriage with her ISTP husband and loves her 12-year-old INFP and 9-year-old ESTP daughters\, who are also learning Type and functions! Her ESTP daughter recently came home from a Kids Type session declaring\, “I realized I need to think about people’s feelings more but I also think Feelers need to over-exaggerate when they are not happy.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:The developing personality: Empirical research on the hierarchy of preferences - with Dr Mina Barimany
DESCRIPTION:Dr Mina Barimany\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Mina Barimany is a therapist and researcher based in Washington\, DC. Mina’s research centers on how psychological type unfolds over the lifespan. Her 2017 PhD thesis\, ‘The hierarchy of functions in Jungian Psychological Type: Comparing theory to evidence’ explored preference patterns in data from the Majors PTI/PTE on the 8 Jungian cognitive functions. Findings from Mina’s research have informed recent conceptual type development including by Dario Nardi as documented in his book ‘The Magic Diamond’. Join us for Mina’s presentation about the developing personality based on research on type preferences. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the research findings with Mina. \n\n\n\nHere’s the link to Mina’s PhD research if you wish to read in advance: \n\n\n\nhttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/304628452_The_hierarchy_of_functions_in_Jungian_Psychological_Type_Comparing_theory_to_evidence \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister in advance for this meeting via Zoom: \n\n\n\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMudOmqqTsuG9Qj_ukpSCBWxW1-E283Ddj_ \n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \n\n\n\nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Using Visual Type and the Z Model to Thrive - Sterling Bates
DESCRIPTION:Discover a new way to see\, show and explain type like never before. Visual Type is a visual diagram for each type. Using both Myers-Briggs type and Jungian functions in a way that makes preferences crystal clear to new users and teams\, visual Type lets people thrive by seeing where they\, and their team\, prefer to spend their time and how it affects their decisions when combined with the 8 function Z model process. Step Research has pioneered a new way to visualize Myers-Briggs types\, Jungian functions and how it fits together for a person and a team. \n\n\n\nSterling Bates\n\n\n\nSterling BatesSterling’s combination of technology\, mathematics\, business\, marketing\, OD & psychological types provides the ideal background for founding Step Research\, a psychology software research and development company. Sterling Bates was previously at Disney for more than 13 years. SUMMARY:Soul-making Work in Dark Times: A Jungian View - Suzanne Cremen
DESCRIPTION:Drawing on Jungian depth psychology\, this session outlines a new approach to questions of work\, career and calling in the current era\, through engaging with symbol\, metaphor and imagination. Traditional career development practices tend to be biased towards Sensation and Thinking functions. Bringing a symbolic perspective to work can awaken imagination and shift perception of the vocational journey as more than a paycheck\, but an opus of the soul. Individuals with a preference for Intuition are particularly suited to a vocational guidance approach which values the creative unconscious and imaginative potential\, but at different life stages this approach may be valuable for all psychological types. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSuzanne Cremen  Dr Suzanne Cremen worked in over 25 occupations including lawyer\, screenwriter\, publisher and career counsellor before earning her PhD in depth psychology. She serves as faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute (USA)\, founded the Life Artistry Centre for Archetype\, Imagination and Vocation (Australia)\, and is the author of From Career to Calling (Routledge).  \n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2020 Conference. SUMMARY:Jung’s Type and Development over his Lifetime – Mary McGuiness
DESCRIPTION:Was Carl Jung’s Type INTJ or INTP? This has been debated in the Type community for some time. We will examine evidence from Jung’s life\, his writings\, his work and from people who knew him personally\, that points to his personality Type. We will also explore the changes in Jung as he developed through midlife and beyond. In this session we will look at the question of how can you identify a person’s Type\, particularly an historical figure or a celebrity. We will also look how an understanding of one’s Type can influence the individuation process. \n\n\n\nMary McGuiness\n\n\n\nMary McGuiness  Mary McGuiness has 30 years’ experience teaching Jungian Psychological Type theory and training professionals to use Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Majors Personality Type Inventory. Mary is Director of the Institute for Type Development and was on the founding committee of AusAPT\, serving two years as National President. She is author of best-seller ‘You’ve Got Personality’.   \n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2020 Conference. It’s just $75AU for AusAPT members and reciprocal members and $100AU for guests for all 12 sessions. SUMMARY:Type and Exploring Personal Growth Pathways - Alex MacFarlane
DESCRIPTION:Research regarding optimal human personal development has identified specific steps regarding this form of growth process experienced in one way or another by all humans. In an opposite vein\, the research regarding the human deficiencies and dysfunctions we want to overcome indicates these crippling factors are individualised\, not experienced by all\, and are dependent on nature (our inborn cognitive preferences) and our nurture. This session will broadly outline dysfunctions typical for each psychological type and the overarching steps involved in optimal growth. It will then set about\, by group discussion\, to explore our individual lived experiences in this process. \n\n\n\nAlex MacFarlane\n\n\n\nAlex MacFarlane  Alex MacFarlane is a clinical and consultant psychologist specialised in the application of psychological type and temperament as a core therapeutic tool in clinical practice and consulting. Her work has involved private practice\, teaching\, training\, research and consulting. Her ongoing PhD studies the relationship of psychological type and pathways to optimal functioning.    \n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2020 Conference. SUMMARY:Typing from Afar: Catherine the Great – Jane Kise + Ann Holm
DESCRIPTION:Typing From Afar: Catherine the Great \n\n\n\nWhile ethics say\, “Let people decide their types for themselves\,” we all type from afar. Type experts\, real and professed “read” types\, spot type in movie and book characters\, and speculate about the preferences of public figures. So how do you do it accurately? Ethically? We’ll use Catherine the Great by Robert Massie as a case study. Why a long-ago Russian empress and her consorts? Because you can’t make up better stories with so many tantalizing type clues! We guarantee it will be a lively conversation as the presenters actually don’t agree on who is which type for our case study. Read Massie’s book in advance to be super prepared. If you don’t manage to get to the book (it’s a fantastic audio as well)\, try Wikipedia or view the 45-minute story of her on Biography. \n\n\n\nAnn Holm (left) and Jane Kise\n\n\n\nJane Kise and Ann Holm \n\n\n\nJane Kise\, Ed.D. is an organizational consultant and author of over 25 books. She works with businesses and schools in the United States and several other countries. Her specific work with type includes applying the framework to education\, coaching\, spirituality\, leadership\, personal development\, and more.   Ann C Holm is a professional certified coach specialising in executive\, career\, and personal development and branding. Ann is an MBTI Master Practitioner and is known for her extensive experience in the MBTI Step III. She helps clients connect the dots by looking at themselves through multiple lenses.Typing From Afar: Catherine the Great While ethics say\, “Let people decide their types for themselves\,” we all type from afar. Read Massie’s book in advance to be super prepared.1:30-2:30pm AEDTAlex MacFarlane   Alex MacFarlane is a clinical and consultant psychologist specialised in the application of psychological type and temperament as a core therapeutic tool in clinical practice and consulting. Her work has involved private practice\, teaching\, training\, research and consulting. Her ongoing PhD studies the relationship of psychological type and pathways to optimal functioning.    Type and Exploring Personal Growth Pathways   Research regarding optimal human personal development has identified specific steps regarding this form of growth process experienced in one way or another by all humans. It will then set about\, by group discussion\, to explore our individual lived experiences in this process.2:45 – 3:45pm AEDTMary McGuiness   Mary McGuiness has 30 years’ experience teaching Jungian Psychological Type theory and training professionals to use Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Majors Personality Type Inventory. Mary is Director of the Institute for Type Development and was on the founding committee of AusAPT\, serving two years as National President. She is author of best-seller ‘You’ve Got Personality’.  Jung’s Type and Development over his Lifetime   Was Carl Jung’s Type INTJ or INTP? This has been debated in the Type community for some time. We will examine evidence from Jung’s life\, his writings\, his work and from people who knew him personally\, that points to his personality Type. We will also explore the changes in Jung as he developed through midlife and beyond. In this session we will look at the question of how can you identify a person’s Type\, particularly an historical figure or a celebrity. We will also look how an understanding of one’s Type can influence the individuation process.4:15 – 5:15pm AEDTAngelina BennetDr Angelina Bennet is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Director of iPotential Ltd\, a psychological consultancy\, and Type Pro Ltd\, type qualification training program providers. She is the author of Shadows of Type: Psychological Type through Seven Levels of Development\, and is a frequent presenter at Type conferences around the world. The Wisdom of TypeWhat is wisdom? In addition\, how does wisdom show up in Type? In this session\, Angelina will present an aspect of her doctoral research that focused on perceptions of individual effectiveness\, the definition of effectiveness\, and how this is connected to wisdom and the later stages of personal development. We will look at the characteristics of wise and effective individuals and how this may be expressed through type\, and consider how to facilitate development to being out these qualities. During the session\, we will try out some practical ‘ego bypass’ coaching methods\, and discuss our own experiences of seeing the wisdom of type in action.\n\n\n\nSaturday 7 November\n\n\n\n9:00 – 10:00am AEDTSue Blair   Sue has been working with psychological type for over 18 years. She is an international presenter and keynote speaker\, as well as an MBTI practitioner and adult educator. She is author of The Personality Puzzle coaching cards\, used by coaches and counsellors worldwide. She has taught thousands of teachers\, parents\, students and businesses about the importance of self-awareness and communication.  Learning and Thriving: Guided by Type   Everyone knows someone who has struggled through the education system. The reasons for this are many and varied but the patterns we can see through the application of Type in the learning environment are proven\, consistent and thought provoking. They are also somewhat alarming! As Type professionals we have the resources available to us to make a difference. This session will outline the challenges that exist and explore ways we can navigate the issues to find learning solutions that are diverse and effective.10:15 – 11:15amSuzanne Cremen   Dr Suzanne Cremen worked in over 25 occupations including lawyer\, screenwriter\, publisher and career counsellor before earning her PhD in depth psychology. She serves as faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute (USA)\, founded the Life Artistry Centre for Archetype\, Imagination and Vocation (Australia)\, and is the author of From Career to Calling (Routledge).Soul-making Work in Dark Times: A Jungian View   Drawing on Jungian depth psychology\, this session outlines a new approach to questions of work\, career and calling in the current era\, through engaging with symbol\, metaphor and imagination. Traditional career development practices tend to be biased towards Sensation and Thinking functions. Bringing a symbolic perspective to work can awaken imagination and shift perception of the vocational journey as more than a paycheck\, but an opus of the soul. Individuals with a preference for Intuition are particularly suited to a vocational guidance approach which values the creative unconscious and imaginative potential\, but at different life stages this approach may be valuable for all psychological types.11:45am – 12:45pmSterling Bates   Sterling’s combination of technology\, mathematics\, business\, marketing\, OD & psychological types provides the ideal background for founding Step Research\, a psychology software research and development company. Sterling Bates was previously at Disney for more than 13 years. He has worked with professional sports teams\, corporations and everything in between and has been on the APTi board of directors for 4 years.Using Virtual Type and the Z Model to Thrive   Discover a new way to see\, show and explain type like never before. Visual Type is a visual diagram for each type. Using both Myers-Briggs type and Jungian functions in a way that makes preferences crystal clear to new users and teams. Visual Type lets people thrive by seeing where they\, and their team\, prefer to spend their time and how it affects their decisions when combined with the 8 function Z model process. Step Research has pioneered a new way to visualize Myers-Briggs types\, Jungian functions and how it fits together for a person and a team.1:15 – 2:15pm AEDTBrian Lawrence   Brian has worked internationally in the educational\, corporate and diplomatic sectors for over 15 years. He has delivered consulting assignments to public and private sector organisations in New Zealand\, Australia\, Singapore/South East Asia\, The United Kingdom\, The United States and The United Arab Emirates. He has been an MBTI Certification Trainer\, Leadership Facilitator\, Coach.    Dancing with Your Inner Wolves: Understanding and Developing your Eight Inner Heroes Imagine your personality as the primal forces that govern how you perceive the world\, decide on your life trail\, where you get your energy\, how you relate to people. This is the story of personality type as you know it framed in a more powerful\, natural essence – the story of your Inner Wolves. Get to know your eight ‘Heroes’ and how they operate in the world. Find out how to tame them to become a more versatile\, flexible\, holistic human being. Brian will demonstrate how we can understand both our Conscious Wolves as well as our Unconscious\, ‘Shadow Wolves’.\n\n\n\n\nFirst step\, register (or log-in if you have already registered with AusAPT here)\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy a ticket as an AusAPT member or reciprocal member (BAPT\, APTi or ILP) $75AU\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy a ticket as a guest/non-member $100AU\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy a ticket for the Conference + annual membership (50% off) $125AU\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe look forward to connecting with you at the AusAPT 2020 online conference! \n\n\n\nAny questions? SUMMARY:Webinar: Growth/Development Experiences – Transcending our ‘Risks’
DESCRIPTION:Growth/Development Experiences – Transcending our ‘Risks’ with Alex MacFarlane\n\n\n\nThis online interactive facilitation is also part group discussion and information-giving workshop. It explores components that assist in attaining a deeper shift into self-transformation\, wellness\, and thriving. Self-transformation/maturation/personal development research has demonstrated that this process has components to it that are both specific for specific types as well as components that are more general across types. This session will focus upon ways and means we have overcome some of our “risks” inherited via both nature (type and temperament) and nurture. It will focus upon two overarching questions: \n\n\n\n1.       What have seemed to be my ‘Risks’ and how have I matured in overcoming or managing them? \n\n\n\n2.       What experiences….circumstances or events in my life have been catalysts to growth? \n\n\n\nAlex MacFarlane\n\n\n\nAbout your presenter: Alex MacFarlane\n\n\n\nAlex MacFarlane is a clinical and consultant psychologist specialised in the application of psychological type and temperament as a core therapeutic tool in clinical practice and consulting. Her work has involved private practice\, teaching\, training\, research and consulting. SUMMARY:Personality Parts™ - New Perspectives on Type with Richard Owen
DESCRIPTION:Richard Owen from the UK presents a 2-hour introductory talk online for AusAPT members and guests who are already experienced and knowledgeable about type. The Personality Parts™ model is Richard’s work towards his conceptualisation and expansion of John Beebe’s 8 function/8 archetype model. It goes right back to the fundamental theory of Jung\, Beebe and MBTI\, challenging the way we have done things before and integrating broader psychological ideas\, towards new foundations that will take type forwards in its second 100 years. Be prepared to revisit some key questions: what is type? how does it come about? what is the unconscious mind? how does it affect my experience and relationships? \n\n\n\nRichard Owen\n\n\n\nAbout Richard Owen\n\n\n\nRichard Owen (INTJ) is a qualified Organisational Psychologist and Coach from Brighton\, UK. He is the current Treasurer and a Trustee of the BAPT (British Association for Psychological Type). Specialising in Jungian Type\, but having studied a range of trait and other models of personality\, Richard is interested in combining these different views and unifying them theoretically. He was mentored by John Beebe over a number of years and has created the Personality Parts™ model to help make the depth side of typology more accessible\, teaching it through workshops\, seminars and work with individuals and couples. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration: Please register in advance for this webinar by Tuesday 16 June.\n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. We plan to offer further online state and national member and guest events so we can keep connecting at this time!
