SUMMARY:Personality\, Type and other labels—What do they mean; what do they stand for? A Discussion with Peter Geyer
DESCRIPTION:The language of personality\, however presented\, can be a minefield of meaning and use\, essentially because there are no agreed definitions\, interpretations\, or perspectives\, even in the niche field of psychological type. C.G. Jung chose general language for his constructs\, a decision he later reflected on somewhat ruefully; what he meant in particular instances seems to have fallen by the wayside. \n\n\n\nSo\, what is Personality? What is a Type\, or a Function? How does Type relate to behaviour\, interest or skill. Is Type neoliberal\, whether we like it or not? Can there a Type response to pandemics\, or conspiracy theories? These questions\, and any others that turn up are the focus of a presentation by Peter Geyer\, in a casual informal setting. \n\n\n\nPeter Geyer\n\n\n\nPeter Geyer has researched\, taught and written about psychological type and related ideas for over 30 years. A former MBTI® and Majors Accrediter\, he is the Custodian of AusAPT’s Type Research and Practice Collection. \n\n\n\nJoin us from 6:30pm for 7pm at Epicentre\, the home of Meredith Fuller & Brian Walsh \n\n\n\nRSVP by 1st July to Meredith Fuller by email meredithfuller56@gmail.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto by Aaron Burden on Unsplash

SUMMARY:Climate Change and Environmental Concerns: What Can I Do as an Individual and What Difference Could It Make?
DESCRIPTION:We are the first generation to feel the sting of climate change\, and we are the last generation that can do something about it. Are people’s responses and activities to the issue of climate change and environmental concerns related to Type? Are there Sensing and Intuitive differences? You are invited to a discussion following short talks by 3 engaging guests.Professor Matthew Cuthbertson\, Chair\, Victorian Clean Tech fund (boutique venture capital fund)  Working in innovation at several universities\, Matt is involved in many scientific committees and brings big picture observations. Graeme Joyce\, Managing Director Soilcharge\,  the value of biological soil for our environment Australian soils are generally fragile\, depleted and mineral poor.  Long term use of chemical solutions is simply not working.Chemicals such as superphosphate tend to decrease the pH in soil that naturally tends to be acidic\, and as soil becomes more acidic minerals are locked up\, biology becomes dormant or dies\, and farm or garden yield decrease. What we need to do is work with the soil by adding the conditions that will allow the soil to remain in a pH band that allows for plant growth\, with the minerals and elements that will support microbial and bacteria life.Once we do this it is easy to maintain a positive and profitable growing environment.Ian MacCallum\, a concerned Australian citizen with an IT background (originally from Canada) who has previously been involved in climate activism\, aware of basic things we all can do to empower ourselves but also recognises the incredible difficulty in making a lasting difference. “I recognise that doing nothing is tantamount to admitting defeat. I think it’s better to be doing something rather than wringing our hands in despair. It’s important that people feel empowered in some way. I refer to the old adage\, ‘Every Vote Counts!’  “A portion of the speakers’ comments will be filmed for a short YouTubePlease bring a PLATE or BOTTLE to share over afternoon teaRSVP to Meredith Fuller as soon as possible via email meredithfuller56@gmail.com (to help with Covid safety protocols)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto by Sincerely Media on Unsplash \n\n\n\nFeature photo by Li-An Lim on Unsplash

SUMMARY:Depth Typology – Exploring Beebe’s ideas with Ian Ball
DESCRIPTION:Summary: \n\n\n\nThe workshop draws on Mark Hunziker’s book Depth Typology. We will look at the way the eight archetypes affect how the eight function-attitudes are expressed within an individual psyche. We will do some exercises about the sixteen types that illustrate why we sometimes feel drawn to or have potential conflict issues with people of differing type preferences. We will explore the ideas about the significance of one’s shadow type and one’s opposite type. \n\n\n\nAbout Ian Ball: \n\n\n\nIan is a Life Member of AusAPT and managed the Psychological Type Research Unit for 22 years. He has published research on type in both Australian and International journals and at conferences. A major project was the creation of a model of the distribution of types in the Australian working population using census data. He is a retired Associate Professor from Deakin University\, and is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society. \n\n\n\nIan Ball\n\n\n\nThis is an in person event in Melbourne. \n\n\n\nTo book for the event: \n\n\n\nContact AusAPT at info@ausapt.org.au or Meredith Fuller directly. \n\n\n\n\n\n$10 payable on the day for non-members.

SUMMARY:Talking through the language of type: with Harumi Gondo and the Japanese TypeLAB community
DESCRIPTION:Harumi Gondo\, MBTI Master Practitioner and Founder of 16 Type & TypeLAB\, joins us from Tokyo along with members of the Japanese TypeLAB community for an interactive conversation about type in Japan and type and cultural differences. Online\, free and open to all. \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Harumi Gondo and the Japanese TypeLAB community\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo is in her third (and possibly final?) career. After finding herself alone and without a community in Japan\, she went to the US to get certified in MBTI. She began inviting moms in her daughter’s kindergarten to learn about Type. It has since been 8 years and she is in the midst of creating a growth-oriented community of mothers\, who all live within 20-30 minute biking distance of each other\, who are learning and teaching Type. Last year alone TypeLAB ran around 335 events for mothers. \n\n\n\nMembers of TypeLAB at events in Tokyo\n\n\n\nHarumi is a MBTI Master Practitioner and is also certified with Majors PTI and TypeCoach as well as the MMTIC (Murphy-Mesgeier Type Indicator for Children). She studied the cognitive functions and their archetypal influences with Bob McAlpine (also John Beebe’s workshop in Houston). Harumi created her own type certification program and has written a Japanese textbook on Type (with her team) and a Japanese workbook on the cognitive functions. She conducts type trainings at companies and organizations on teamwork and communication in Japanese and English. \n\n\n\nAs an ENFJ she has worked (so hard!!!) to create a good marriage with her ISTP husband and loves her 12-year-old INFP and 9-year-old ESTP daughters\, who are also learning Type and functions! Her ESTP daughter recently came home from a Kids Type session declaring\, “I realized I need to think about people’s feelings more but I also think Feelers need to over-exaggerate when they are not happy.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here
