SUMMARY:Personality and Parenting: Meeting the needs of parent and child – how is this possible? A course with Sue Blair
DESCRIPTION:An online Type and Parenting course presented by acclaimed type and parenting educator and coach\, Sue Blair\, in partnership with AusAPT. Learn strategies for parenting and meeting the needs of both parent and child through the lens of psychological type. \n\n\n\nDates & times: Four x 90 minute sessions each week in November\, 2023.\n\n\n\nSaturday 4\, 11\, 18 & 25 November 12 noon to 1:30pm AEST/Sydney time – see below for further details including time in other times zones.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting the needs of parent and child – how is this possible?\n\n\n\nAUSAPT is delighted to offer a 4-week program on parenting. Sue Blair will lead you through a fascinating exploration of how Type influences everyday distractions\, dilemmas and dramas. How can everyone in a family get their needs met? What shifts can be made to facilitate a positive and rewarding family life? How can you set yourself up to succeed? \n\n\n\nThis is a valuable opportunity for a small group of parents who are united in wanting to do the best for their children.  There is so much that can be done to enhance the parenting experience and improve outcomes for the people we care about the most. \n\n\n\nYou will learn\, laugh and leave enlightened!!! \n\n\n\nSession Focus and Dates:\n\n\n\nThis course will be delivered over 4 online sessions on Saturdays in November\, 2023 – each 90 minutes long. \n\n\n\nAll sessions are Saturday 12 noon AEDT Sydney/Melbourne. This is 11am Brisbane\, 9am\, Perth\, 10am JT Tokyo\, 2pm NZDT or check your local time for the the first session on 4 November\, noting that in the US\, Canada and other parts of the world\, this will be the evening before or very early AM in the UK/Europe. \n\n\n\nSessionFocusDate (AEDT)1Meeting the needs of Extraverts and Introverts4 November2Meeting the needs of Sensing and Intuiting11 November3Meeting the needs of Thinking and Feeling18 November4Putting it all together – understanding our stress triggers25 November\n\n\n\nSession Details\n\n\n\nSession 1: Meeting the needs of Extraverts and Introverts \n\n\n\nThis session briefly reviews these preferences and then looks more deeply into what it means within the family group. Every family has a different combination and most families need to be bi-lingual in both styles so that the needs of each person can be met. What problems can occur? What happens when parent and child differ? What happens when they are the same? It’s not as obvious as you may think. Being able to adapt is essential. Parents – please remember – you must have your needs met too! \n\n\n\nSession 2: Meeting the needs of Sensing and Intuiting \n\n\n\nThis session looks beyond the usual analysis of Sensing and Intuiting to a new perspective when looking at these functions in combination with the Judging and Perceiving functions. i.e. SJ\, SP\, NJ and NP. This opens up a whole new vista of diversity. We often don’t realise our natural bias when parenting. Nor do we understand what it feels like to perceive in a different way. We will explore how to spot these differences in your child\, how to experience them for yourself and how to understand what’s going on so that\, as parents\, you can set yourself up to succeed.   \n\n\n\nSession 3: Meeting the needs of Thinking and Feeling \n\n\n\nWhen it comes to ‘care and support’\, which is typically thought to be in the ‘Feeling’ domain\, ‘Thinkers’ have very different needs and offer a very different quality of support. This is often misunderstood by the ‘Feelers’. Seeing as parenting is very connected to offering care and support\, I think it is a good lens to explore. It can also be a key issue when co-parenting if you are opposite on this dichotomy. As in session two\, we will do a deeper dive into how Thinking and Feeling combines with the Judging and Perceiving preferences. This will reveal significant differences which\, if understood\, can lead to a great deal more harmony in the home. \n\n\n\nSession 4: Putting it all together – understanding our stress triggers \n\n\n\nEveryone attending will have a different combination of personalities. No two homes are the same! We will take a look at these combinations and see what can be done to make your home life calmer\, less stressed and more satisfying. Parenting is the most important role you have in this world. Taking the time to really ‘see’ each of your children and adapt to their needs is your gift to them. Meanwhile\, they also need to know that their parents have needs too. At the end of day it would be great if your children say “I was well parented by imperfect parents”. We will never get it perfectly right\, but we can feel so much better about it when we absolutely know we did our best. Myers-Briggs gives us the opportunity to understand who we are parenting through the personality type lens. It’s not all you need to know but\, my goodness\, it’s an enormous help!   \n\n\n\nAbout Sue Blair\n\n\n\nSue Blair\n\n\n\nSue has been working with psychological type for over 20 years and is well known to many at AusAPT. She is an author\, coach\, educator\, presenter and keynote speaker. She has taught parenting skills for over 16 years and has been running individual workshops and coaching programmes for The Parenting Place in NZ.  Sue has raised two exceptionally different children\, now young adults\, who have taught her the extraordinary value of parenting with personality diversity at the forefront of the mind. SUMMARY:Mapping the Shadow: A Type-Based Approach to Shadow Work - Max Chegwyn
DESCRIPTION:Discover how to integrate the shadow using Type and the Seven Habits of Individuation model. In this presentation we will explore the common ways in which Type maps to Persona-Shadow dynamics and the different practices each Type can use for integration and psychospiritual growth. \n\n\n\nJungian Shadow Work is increasingly being used as a coaching tool. More people are recognising the benefits of integrating deeper aspects of themselves to bring balance to their lives\, careers\, and relationships. However\, the shadow is not something that can be easily captured in a concept or identified independently. In this presentation\, we will discuss how Type can be used as a foundation for mapping and integrating the shadow. We will examine the most common ways Type correlates with Persona-Shadow dynamics and how this serves as a valuable tool for identifying shadow material. Finally\, we will explore how different classifications of shadow material can be integrated using the Seven Habits of Individuation model. \n\n\n\nAbout Max Chegwyn\n\n\n\nMax Chegwyn is a psychospiritual educator and coach dedicated to helping freedom-minded individuals develop self-knowledge. As the curator of the Seven Habits of Individuation model\, Max focuses on fostering individuation and psychospiritual growth. SUMMARY:Creating a Type Community and Business in Japan—Harumi Gondo
DESCRIPTION:Creating a Type Community and Business in Japan – How I went from charging 100 to 100\,000 yen a session\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo got off the plane from the US to Tokyo 9 years ago. She barely spoke the language and experienced severe culture shock in Japan. She went from knowing nothing about the culture and knowing no one to managing a busy type community of mothers and a growing business contracting the team of mothers who have now become expert practitioners in Type. \n\n\n\nShe will share her experiences with Japanese mothers\, who highly prioritize conformity and keeping their mouth shut. She will also share her experience in building a growth-based Type community and how she as an ENFJ avoided poverty and poor health to achieving a six figure income through knowing and developing her Type. \n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo was certified in MBTI in 2013 and began training others in Type the day after she was certified. She has over 8000 hours of training experience. She established a type-based community in Japan and founded a company that runs training for companies. \n\n\n\nThis is a session at the Time & Tide—Traditions and Trends in Type conference\, 7-9 October online. SUMMARY:Practical Applications of Jung's Theory and the Eight Mental Processes in a World of Remote Work
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Cynthia S. Paris\, President\, The People Skills Group\n\n\n\nJoin us for a free two hour workshop with Cindy Paris in the first of our Sunday Series events in 2022. \n\n\n\nAs practitioners\, we are learning more and more that the gold\, the real power\, of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator\, comes from the theory behind the instrument\, Psychological Types. However\, as practitioners\, we are often challenged to teach and practically apply Jung’s Eight Functions (Mental Processes\, Cognitive Processes) with teams and leaders when participants are used to thinking in terms of the 4-letters of Type and MBTI Preferences. This is especially true in a world where many teams are working remotely and there is a lot to achieve in a short time frame. \n\n\n\nIn this program\, participants will learn how to introduce Jung’s theoretical framework and the mental processes through quick and easy techniques and exercises using our road tested and vetted tools for integrating the 8 Jungian Functions into applications. We will introduce how to adapt and facilitate these exercises (some of which are well-known and quite often used\, like the Z-Problem solving model) with remote teams using Zoom breakout rooms and third-party applications. \n\n\n\nParticipants will walk away with handouts and fresh ideas for facilitating Psychological Types for effective teamwork and leadership development in our new\, and often remote\, world of work. \n\n\n\n\nRegister to attend via Zoom\n\n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Join us from 9:45am AEDT/Sydney/Melbourne to network and settle in. Check your local time and note that whilst this is a Sunday series\, it will be Saturday\, the day before\, for US and Canada. The session will be recorded and the link to watch the replay sent to those who register. \n\n\n\nAbout Cindy Paris\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCindy Paris is a Master Facilitator\, Consultant\, and Coach\, nationally recognized as a thought leader in the world of the Myers-Briggs Assessment and Psychological Type. As an MBTI® Master Practitioner and former MBTI Certification trainer for the publisher of the instrument\, she is an expert in the application of Psychological Type to enhance individual\, team and leadership development and performance. Cindy is also credentialed in a myriad of team and leadership assessments and models including the leading Emotional Intelligence Testing tool\, the EQ-I 2.0\, and the cutting-edge models of Conversational Intelligence and the 4 Stages of Psychological Safety which are based in social neuroscience. \n\n\n\nCindy founded her company\, The People Skills Group\, with the sole purpose of helping people develop the people skills to work better together – to build cultures of team trust – where people are valued and allowed to contribute the talents they bring to the table. Cindy has been facilitating and coaching teams and leaders to meet their goals since 2001.Cindy learned from the best; she studied under the late Katharine D. Myers\, former Director Emeritus of the Myers-Briggs® Foundation and co-owner of the MBTI® Assessment. For years\, Cindy worked with Katharine by writing and editing her personal website and co-authoring numerous articles for the APTi Bulletin of Psychological Type. She has developed a distinctive approach to Type which calls on her proprietary suite of products based on the Eight Jungian Function Image Metaphor Cards suite of products. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \n\n\n\n\n\nFeature Photo by Kristin Wilson on Unsplash

SUMMARY:Talking through the language of type: with Harumi Gondo and the Japanese TypeLAB community
DESCRIPTION:Harumi Gondo\, MBTI Master Practitioner and Founder of 16 Type & TypeLAB\, joins us from Tokyo along with members of the Japanese TypeLAB community for an interactive conversation about type in Japan and type and cultural differences. Online\, free and open to all. \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Harumi Gondo and the Japanese TypeLAB community\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo\n\n\n\nHarumi Gondo is in her third (and possibly final?) career. After finding herself alone and without a community in Japan\, she went to the US to get certified in MBTI. She began inviting moms in her daughter’s kindergarten to learn about Type. It has since been 8 years and she is in the midst of creating a growth-oriented community of mothers\, who all live within 20-30 minute biking distance of each other\, who are learning and teaching Type. Last year alone TypeLAB ran around 335 events for mothers. \n\n\n\nMembers of TypeLAB at events in Tokyo\n\n\n\nHarumi is a MBTI Master Practitioner and is also certified with Majors PTI and TypeCoach as well as the MMTIC (Murphy-Mesgeier Type Indicator for Children). She studied the cognitive functions and their archetypal influences with Bob McAlpine (also John Beebe’s workshop in Houston). Harumi created her own type certification program and has written a Japanese textbook on Type (with her team) and a Japanese workbook on the cognitive functions. She conducts type trainings at companies and organizations on teamwork and communication in Japanese and English. \n\n\n\nAs an ENFJ she has worked (so hard!!!) to create a good marriage with her ISTP husband and loves her 12-year-old INFP and 9-year-old ESTP daughters\, who are also learning Type and functions! Her ESTP daughter recently came home from a Kids Type session declaring\, “I realized I need to think about people’s feelings more but I also think Feelers need to over-exaggerate when they are not happy.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:The Influence of your Family of Origin Type and Falling in Love - Meredith Fuller and Brian Walsh
DESCRIPTION:We will look at family of origin Types (the family you grew up with)\, and the nature of your relationship with each member – did you go with\, go against\, or withdraw from? How might these themes relate to that unconscious instant attraction we feel towards potential partners? SUMMARY:The Magic Diamond: Coaching Type Development – Dario Nardi
DESCRIPTION:How can we really encourage people to attend to type development? Traditionally\, opposites are shown along a spectrum\, implying people find a balancing point. But Jung observed a “transcendent” function that is a novel “alchemical” synthesis of opposites\, leading to a new result. In this workshop\, we use a Magic Diamond shape with four facets\, such as Thinking\, Feeling\, undifferentiated\, and synthesis. This shape invites people to fill in the synthesis facet. We will go over examples for the types and look at a typical coaching arc that goes from strengths to the shadow to overcoming one-sidedness through new habits.     \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDario Nardi \n\n\n\nDario Nardi\, PhD is an internationally renowned researcher\, speaker\, and instructor in neuroscience\, personality\, and education. He was certified in type in 1994 and has authored many books including ‘Neuroscience of Personality’\, ‘8 Keys to Self-Leadership\, ‘Jung on Yoga’\, ’16 Personality Types: Descriptions for Self-Discovery’ and recently\, ‘The Magic Diamond.’   \n\n\n\nFor pre-reading and insights into The Magic Diamond\, head over to: \n\n\n\n\n512 Flavors of Personality?\n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2020 Conference. It’s just $75AU for AusAPT members and reciprocal members and $100AU for guests for all 12 sessions. \n\n\n\nYou can find the full conference program and details here:\n\n\n\n\nAusAPT 2020 Online Program + Ticket info\n\n\n\n\nOnline Event\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeature photo by Daniele Levis Pelusi on Unsplash

SUMMARY:Personality Parts™ - New Perspectives on Type with Richard Owen
DESCRIPTION:Richard Owen from the UK presents a 2-hour introductory talk online for AusAPT members and guests who are already experienced and knowledgeable about type. The Personality Parts™ model is Richard’s work towards his conceptualisation and expansion of John Beebe’s 8 function/8 archetype model. It goes right back to the fundamental theory of Jung\, Beebe and MBTI\, challenging the way we have done things before and integrating broader psychological ideas\, towards new foundations that will take type forwards in its second 100 years. Be prepared to revisit some key questions: what is type? how does it come about? what is the unconscious mind? how does it affect my experience and relationships? \n\n\n\nRichard Owen\n\n\n\nAbout Richard Owen\n\n\n\nRichard Owen (INTJ) is a qualified Organisational Psychologist and Coach from Brighton\, UK. He is the current Treasurer and a Trustee of the BAPT (British Association for Psychological Type). Specialising in Jungian Type\, but having studied a range of trait and other models of personality\, Richard is interested in combining these different views and unifying them theoretically. He was mentored by John Beebe over a number of years and has created the Personality Parts™ model to help make the depth side of typology more accessible\, teaching it through workshops\, seminars and work with individuals and couples. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration: Please register in advance for this webinar by Tuesday 16 June.\n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
