SUMMARY:Four Flavors of Type - Dario Nardi
DESCRIPTION:What flavor of your type are you?Having an answer can make a difference. Some people really puzzle over their best-fit type. Or\, they feel unusual for their type\, perhaps as a result of upbringing or type development. Or\, they are making a career change and want extra advice. What’s the saying\, “Every ENFP is like every other ENFP\, like some other ENFPs\, and like no other ENFP.” Some differences are small\, and some really matter.Lately\, research is coming together on flavors of type. Neuroscience data supports that people use their brains in ways that meet their type preferences. They also develop in ways that reflect their cultural upbringing\, career choice\, and more. These brain differences sort into clusters or as 4 cardinal points around a wheel. We will explore 4 flavors of type: Dominant\, Creative\, Normalizing or Harmonizing. (Thanks Dr. Victor Gulenko for these names.) This includes examples from specific types and reference materials that you can use. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDario Nardi \n\n\n\nDario Nardi\, Ph.D. is a renowned author and researcher in neuroscience\, personality\, and body-mind practices. SUMMARY:From Type to Psyche\, Self and Soul - David Pool
DESCRIPTION:We will examine some of the psychological ideas related to Carl Jung’s dynamic model of the human psyche. Special attention will be paid to the place type plays in the current scholarly landscape. By critically examining different perspectives on the psyche\, the soul\, and the self we will attempt a fresh exploration of what type is with an aim to break free of habitual and ingrained assumptions\, beliefs and dogmas. \n\n\n\nIn addition to examining questions like “what is type?”\, “what is the role of the unconscious?” and “what is attitude?” we will explore the experience of pursuing a PhD in Jungian psychology. You may wonder how receptive Jungian and Archetypal psychology is to Type notions. The answer is a mixed bag. Finally we’ll touch upon some intriguing and controversial ideas about the difference between classification into categories and a structural functional model of the human psyche – moving from the typical to the unique. \n\n\n\nDavid Pool\n\n\n\nDavid PoolDavid Pool has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and multiple type certifications. He is enrolled in the Depth\, Jungian and Archetypal studies doctoral program at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpenteria California. This viewpoint into Jungian studies\, the Type community\, and mainstream academia grounds David’s viewpoint in three separate disciplines. David’s thesis is that an underlying psyche stands at the center of these three streams\, his mission is to unite the different approaches while exercising a critical analytical approach. \n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2021 Conference. SUMMARY:Type and Stress: Your Type and Mind-Body Connections - Katie Jones
DESCRIPTION:Our minds and bodies are intricately connected\, and our brain’s main job is to keep us alive and safe from threats. In this interactive workshop\, we will use an understanding of both the Myers Briggs Type Indicator\, as well as research about how the mind and body are connected\, to better understand unique stressors and ways to proactively and reactively respond to stress through both of these tools. \n\n\n\nDeveloping a deeper understanding of stressors and how to recover from stress is important for self-understanding\, leadership\, and growth\, as well as a key to understanding others. Leaders at all levels can use this information to help create psychologically safer spaces for their teams\, which Google’s Project Aristotle found as one of the keys to team success. Stress is inevitable\, but it is not the end of the story! \n\n\n\nKatie Jones\n\n\n\nKatie JonesKatie is a MBTI Master Practitioner\, coaching teams and leaders for 10 years. After earning two graduate degrees from Columbia University\, teaching\, leading high-performing teams\, and working in the non-profit education space\, Katie founded KJ Consulting Group\, which continues to serve local and national organizations across the U.S. To support an ever-changing world as we navigate the pandemic\, in 2020 Katie created the Myers Briggs: Beyond the Letters course\, as well as a Mind-Body Journal to help navigate stress using mind-body connections. \n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2021 Conference. SUMMARY:Type Development: 10 Things You Must Do (If you are serious) - Roger Pearman
DESCRIPTION:Type development is about knowing your type pattern and being able to identify and access those functions on which you don’t regularly rely. While identifying these functions (Si\, Se\, Ni\, Ne\, Ti\, Te\, Fi\, Fe) is cognitively easy\, accessing and using them requires more work. This presentation will look at 10 tactics from a variety of sources which will enable the participant to explore all of the type functions for development to boost psychological agility. In a VUCA (Volatile\, Uncertain\, Complex\, and Ambiguous) age\, we cannot afford to be one-sided in our psychological mindset. Development is about working to know and use all of the mental resources we have available. \n\n\n\nRoger Pearman\n\n\n\nRoger Pearman \n\n\n\nManaging Partner\, TalentTelligent\, LLC; Researcher\, Writer\, and Practitioner of psychological type; Past President APTI; former Qualifying/Certifying Faculty for APTi and www.qualifying.org; Books and materials: I’m Not Crazy\, I’m Just Not You; YOU: Being More Effective in Your MBTI Type; Introduction to Type and Emotional Intelligence; People Skills Handbook: Action Tips for Improving Your Emotional Intelligence; Pearman Personality Integrator (Published by MHS\, Inc); Career Roadblock Finder (published by HRDQ). \n\n\n\nTo join us: \n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2021 Conference. SUMMARY:Stress and Resilience in the World of Covid-19 - Mary McGuiness
DESCRIPTION:The world has experienced enormous change and stress in 2020 and 2021. Covid-19 has impacted on our personal lives\, family life\, work life\, social life and\, for some\, our physical and/or emotional health. People have responded in many different ways. Type theory suggests that each type will experience the stress differently and will likely use different strategies to cope. Let’s explore how the changes have impacted on us to see what impact personality type has had. We will also look more broadly at what Jung and type can tell us about stress and resilience. What does the theory say about stress for each type? And\, more importantly\, how do we take care of ourselves\, and each other\, so that we keep some balance in our lives and can learn something from the experience. \n\n\n\nMary McGuiness\n\n\n\nMary McGuiness  Mary McGuiness ENFP has 30 years experience teaching personality theory and training professionals to use the MBTI instrument and the MajorsPTI. She currently offers certification in the MajorsPTI instrument. Mary is Director of the Institute for Type Development\, a national training organisation established in 1986. She served on the National Committee of AusAPT for 10 years\, with two years as National President. Mary is author of several books and resources including the best-seller\, You’ve Got Personality\, and is a regular speaker. \n\n\n\n\nThis session is part of the AusAPT Online 2021 Conference. \n\n\n\nIt’s just $100AU for current financial AusAPT members\, APT and ILP members and $150AU for guests for all 21 sessions. \n\n\n\nYou can find the full conference program and details here: \n\n\n\n\n\nAusAPT 2021 Online Program + Ticket info\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto by energepic.com from Pexels
