New NSW/ACT Regional Representative on the AusAPT Management Committee

We wish to advise that Ellen Owen has joined us as the NSW/ACT Regional Representative on the AusAPT Management Committee. The vitality and future of AusAPT depends on the efforts of volunteers including those who volunteer to be part of the Management Committee of AusAPT. So we are very grateful that Ellen has volunteered to join us to lead the NSW/ACT community and events and to be part of the leadership team. The Committee leads the not for profit organisation’s strategic directions, events and operations. At the November 2020 AGM, a new Management Committee was formed for the period 2020 – 2022. We didn’t fill all positions at that time and a couple of people have resigned since. AusAPT 2020 + 2021 Conference Update

Unfortunately we have had to postpone our AusAPT 2020 Conference in Auckland, New Zealand in November due to COVID-19 impacts. However, AusAPT is planning the following conferences in 2020 and 2021 open to all: for 2020: an online conference 6-7 November for 2021: a conference in Auckland, New Zealand 28-31 October This plan enables us to connect and share type research and practice in 2020 at a national and international level and honour our commitment to a conference in partnership with the New Zealand type community. Peter Geyer is the Custodian of the AusAPT Type Research and Practice Collection (Collection), available as a resource for AusAPT members. As you may know, he has researched, written and presented on type for over 25 years. Brian Walsh’s ‘Men and Love’ Documentary wins Award of Merit in US Best Shorts Award

Brian WalshWarm congratulations to AusAPT community member, psychologist and documentary film-maker, Brian Walsh, who has won an Award of Merit in the US Best Shorts Award for his documentary, ‘Men and Love’. This important documentary explores men’s thoughts and feelings on love through interviews with 17 men. It is the final documentary in a trilogy devoted to men and feelings, following on from ‘Men and Crying’ (2014), ‘Men and Anger’ (2017). Changes to National Committee roles

Due to immediate work commitments and for personal reasons, Joshua Knight has reluctantly stepped down from his position of National President. Under the AusAPT Constitution, a casual vacancy is able to be filled by the National Committee. Our Vice President, Kerry Gubb, has been appointed President of AusAPT – to serve in that role until the elections to be held as a part of the AGM of AusAPT (later this year). The positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer are all open to nominations this year as two-year terms will have been completed by our Secretary and Treasurer also. We are (more…)

AusAPT 2020 Conference Presenter Proposals due date extended to 30 April

We are monitoring the current situation and considering the impacts of the Coronavirus in our planning for THRIVE AusAPT in NZ 2020. Given the current uncertainties, the due date for presenter proposals has been extended to 30 April. This will give the AusAPT National and Conference Committees time to review the situation further then. If you are interested in presenting, this gives you more time to draft and submit a conference session proposal. We encourage you to submit. We know these are uncertain times but you have nothing to lose by submitting and indicating your intentions and expertise. You’ll have (more…)
